Senior Analyst, Trade Agreements Sourcing Strategy
Become the Newest Member of the VF Family : Based in VF’s office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Senior Analyst, Trade Agreements Sourcing Strategy, will provide support in customs, global free trade agreements (FTAs) and preference programs to develop and manage the platforms and processes necessary to execute and optimize VF’s global duty spend. The primary responsibility of this role is supporting the implementation of strategies to minimize VF’s global duty spend.
How You Will Make a Difference :
- Partner with VF’s Global Product Supply organization to establish procurement frameworks guiding the acquisition of raw materials meeting and supporting FTA or preference program Rules of Origin (ROO) for finished goods.
- Partner with VF’s Global Product Supply organization to develop data, costing and reporting models supporting a globally optimized Landed Duty Paid (LDP) sourcing framework.
- Linked to VF’s extended Customs and Trade organization worldwide, establish and support upstream brand design and development connectivity and processes governing FTA and preference program design choices.
- Support the overall allocation strategy focused on lowering the duty footprint and the effect of shifting production on VF’s overall LDP.
- Support optimization reviews about diagonal and regional cumulation opportunities in the production cycle focused on claiming preferential origin on finished products.
- Support strategic alignment with Global Product Supply leadership, establishing short-, medium-, and long-term multi-horizon supply planning objectives centered around utilizing and optimizing global FTAs and preference programs.
- Leverage VF’s systems platforms, trade & customs master data, and partner with VF’s Digital Technology organization to develop data models, architecture, and algorithms to produce optimized allocation output.
Skills for Success :
2–5 years of experience in customs and global trade compliance, preferably within the apparel and footwear sector. Demonstrated ability to support trade strategy initiatives, analyze trade data and review BOMs to apply FTAs across multiple regions including the United States, Canada, EU, UK, and APAC.
Educational / Position Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, International Trade, or a related discipline2–5 years of experience in a customs or global trade capacity, preferably in the apparel and footwear sectorFoundational understanding of the global harmonized tariff system and rules of originExperience with supporting the interpretation and application of FTA preferences for APAC, EMEA, and US markets. Familiarity with agreements such as : USMCA (formerly NAFTA); DR-CAFTA; US-EU-Jordan FTA; EU-VN FTA; UK-VN FTA; CPTPP; EU, UK, US and Canada Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) programs; EU-CAMER 2200; EU-Mexico FTA; EU-EG FTA; CN-ASEAN; APTA; RCEPHighly desirable : Familiarity with BOM analysis according to FTA Rules of OriginExperience with trade compliance and sourcing systems such as SAP GTS, Descartes / Customs Info, Infor NexusHighly desirable : Experience working with large data sets using Power BI, Tableau, or Business ObjectsHighly desirable : Familiarity with customs data platforms such as US Customs ACE or EU import systemsStrong communication and presentation skills; ability to support reporting and insights for senior stakeholdersAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed, cross-functional environmentFluent in EnglishR-
