Job description

A. Financial Planning and Budgeting -Lead the development of annual budgets in coordination with program and operational teams. -Monitor budget implementation and provide regular variance analysis and recommendations. B. Financial Reporting and Analysis -Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, the board, and donors. -Maintain updated records of expenditures, grants, and restricted funds. C. Donor Compliance and Grant Management -Ensure compliance with donor financial requirements and timely submission of financial reports. -Support proposal development with budget inputs and cost analysis. D. Internal Controls and Risk Management -Implement and monitor robust financial controls, policies, and procedures. -Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies. E. Audit and Compliance -Coordinate annual external audits and donor-specific audits. -Address audit findings and follow up on implementation of audit recommendations. F. Team Leadership -Supervise and mentor finance officers / accountants. -Provide training on financial procedures and donor compliance as needed. G. Cash Flow and Treasury -Monitor cash flow and manage bank accounts and fund transfers. -Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments, including payroll and vendor payments. H. Systems Management -Oversee accounting systems and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. -Collaborate in the implementation or upgrade of financial software systems. -Any other task as assigned by the supervisors from time to time.   • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. -Recognized professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA). -Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial management, preferably in the nonprofit / NGO sector. -Proven experience with donor-funded projects (e.g., USAID, EU, UN agencies, foundations). -Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally Prime, or ERP systems). -Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and fund accounting. -Experience in developing and managing project and organizational budgets. -High ethical standards and integrity -Analytical and strategic thinking -Strong attention to detail and accuracy -Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance staff -Problem-solving and decision-making skills -Team-oriented with a collaborative leadership approach -Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
