Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sub Editor to join our Wires Section . This role involves editing and refining news stories from wire services.

Responsibilities

  • Edit and proofread articles, features, and other written content for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and adherence to the FMT's house style.
  • Ensure that all edited content meets high editorial standards, maintains a consistent tone and is engaging for readers.
  • Fact-check and verify the information presented in articles to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Work closely with the editorial team to meet deadlines and production schedules.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in editing, proofreading and knowledge of AP style or other journalistic writing guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of grammar, punctuation and writing conventions.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in style guidelines and editorial requirements.
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) and image selection.
