Description
GL Accountant – Maternity Cover, 5‑month contract (November through April). Position located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – hybrid (two days a week in office).
The GL accountant will review and report on various activities related to operations, variance analysis, month‑end processes, and work closely with US and international operations. The role will assist with SOX compliance, financial reporting, fixed assets, and process improvement.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain accounting records (data entry) for day‑to‑day business transactions for accounts payable, payroll, fixed asset, accounts receivable, and general ledger under US GAAP.
- Prepare journal entries and other general ledger operations.
- Maintain fixed asset register, ensure proper depreciation calculation and capture.
- Ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of general ledger, fixed asset, intercompany accounts, treasury transactions, and bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile and analyze trial balance accounts (cash, prepaid expenses, other assets, intercompany accounts, accruals).
- Execute month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing and reporting tasks.
- Research, reconcile and monitor accruals / prepaid accounts and propose related journal entries.
- Collaborate closely with finance functions (accounts payable, accounts receivable, FP&A).
Qualifications / Requirements
3–4 years of experience in SSC / MNC.Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.Experience with Microsoft D365 system.Understanding of US GAAP requirements (added advantage).Team player, meticulous, able to work under tight deadlines.Accurate and detail‑oriented.Ability to work independently on projects with minimal guidance.Proficient in written and spoken English.Seniority level
