Job description

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of planning experience in mechanical, electrical, or civil construction.
  • Skilled in using project planning tools like Primavera or Microsoft Project.
  • Good understanding of construction methods, project stages, and industry standards.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking.
  • Able to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain detailed schedules for mechanical, electrical, and civil projects.
  • Break projects into smaller tasks with clear timelines and goals.
  • Use planning software (like Primavera or MS Project) to manage schedules and deadlines.
  • Plan manpower and equipment needs to improve efficiency.
  • Make sure project timelines match contract and construction requirements.
  • Coordinate with managers, engineers, and subcontractors to stay on schedule.
  • Join meetings to share schedule updates and discuss any delays.
  • Work with procurement to include material / equipment delivery times in the schedule.
  • Track project progress and compare IT to the planned timeline.
  • Identify delays, find causes, and suggest solutions.
  • Update schedules as the project changes or faces issues.
  • Assess risks and create backup plans to avoid delays.
  • Adjust timelines for unexpected events like weather or shortages.
  • Prepare progress reports with key updates and concerns.
  • Share forecast and impact reports with management and clients.
  • Help with cost forecasting by linking schedules with resource planning.
  • Monitor resource use to avoid delays and budget issues.
  • Update schedules for change orders to keep the project on track.
  • Work with control teams to revise baseline schedules if needed.
  • Keep records of all schedules and updates for review.
  • Follow industry standards, rules, and company policies.
  • Suggest ways to improve planning processes.
  • Review past projects to learn and improve future planning.
