Urgent Hiring) Data Engineer (5 Vacancies – Contract with High Conversion Potential)

Our client is a global technology solutions provider with strong presence across APAC, delivering scalable digital infrastructure, analytics, and AI solutions for enterprise customers. They are urgently expanding their team to support a renowned retail MNC (health, beauty, supermarket) project.

This is a 1-year contract role under our client (renewable) with high chance of permanent conversion to the end client (could be as early as 6 months, up to 1 year).

We are looking for multiple Data Engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms that power advanced analytics and AI-driven business solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Development : Design, build, and maintain batch / streaming data pipelines using GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Composer, Dataform, Cloud Functions) or Azure Data Stack (Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks).
  • Data Modeling & Optimization : Implement and optimize data models to support analytics, BI reporting, and machine learning workloads.
  • Data Integration : Connect and transform data from multiple sources (APIs, databases, event streams, flat files).
  • Platform Reliability : Monitor and troubleshoot pipelines, ensuring scalability and availability.
  • Governance & Quality : Apply validation, quality checks, and security best practices.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with analysts, BI developers (Tableau, MicroStrategy), and business teams.
  • Legacy Support (Light) : Provide support for Oracle / MicroStrategy where required.

Requirements

  • Experience : 2–8 years in data engineering, ETL / ELT development, or related roles.
  • Technical Skills :
  • Strong SQL and Python for transformation / automation.
  • Hands-on with either GCP Data Stack or Azure Data Stack .
  • Familiar with orchestration workflows (Airflow / Composer) and CI / CD pipelines.
  • Tableau knowledge is a strong plus.
  • Mindset : Willingness to learn GCP (training provided if not previously used).
  • Eligibility : Open to Malaysian Citizens / PR only (no work passes).
  • Contract : 1-year renewable under our client.
  • Benefits : AWS (prorated if converted to permanent).
  • High chance of conversion to permanent with end client (household-name retail MNC).
  • Start Timeline : Urgent hire – candidate confirmation within 3 days after final round.
  • Interview Process : 1 round with Data Lead + 1 round with Client.

    • Budget / Salary Range

  • 2–5 years experience : Up to RM 10,000 / month
  • 5–8 years experience : Up to RM 15,000 / month ( priority for this range )
