HRBP & Talent Acquisition Expert | Connecting Top Talent with Opportunities The Senior Reservoir Engineer is responsible for leading reservoir studies, reserves estimation, and field development planning to maximize hydrocarbon recovery and ensure long-term value creation. The role involves conducting reservoir simulation, surveillance, and performance analysis, while working closely with geoscientists, drilling, and production teams to deliver integrated reservoir management solutions. The Senior Reservoir Engineer will also ensure compliance with Malaysian regulatory requirements and provide mentoring to junior engineers.

Job Responsibilities

Lead reservoir characterization, simulation, and dynamic modelling to support development and production strategies.

Conduct material balance, decline curve, and pressure transient analysis for well and reservoir evaluation.

Develop and update reservoir models to forecast production and recovery performance.

Support well placement, reservoir monitoring, and optimization of field development plans.

Reserves & Development Planning

Estimate reserves and resources in accordance with SPE-PRMS standards.

Prepare and present reserves booking, field development plans (FDP), and technical documentation to management and partners.

Support economic evaluations and scenario analysis for project decision-making.

Production Support & Optimization

Work with production and operations teams to optimize recovery and improve well / reservoir performance.

Recommend production enhancement techniques including waterflood, gas injection, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR).

Provide technical input to drilling, completion, and workover programs.

Design and implement reservoir surveillance programs, including well testing, logging, and monitoring campaigns.

Interpret surveillance data to diagnose reservoir behavior and recommend corrective measures.

Ensure proper data acquisition, management, and integration into reservoir studies.

Leadership & Compliance

Mentor junior reservoir engineers and contribute to technical capability development.

Lead peer reviews, technical assurance sessions, and knowledge-sharing workshops.

Ensure compliance with HSE standards, industry best practices, and Malaysian regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Minimum 10 years of reservoir engineering experience in upstream oil & gas (Malaysia or international).

Strong expertise in reservoir simulation, reserves estimation, and field development planning.

Proficient in industry-standard software (e.g., Eclipse, CMG, Petrel RE, OFM, MBAL, Saphir, PanSystem).

Knowledge of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods and secondary recovery operations.

Familiarity with Malaysian offshore / onshore fields and local regulatory compliance (PETRONAS governance).

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities, fluent in English.

Strategic thinking in field development planning.

Strong business & economic awareness.

Cross-disciplinary collaboration (geoscience, drilling, production).

Safety and compliance mindset.
