Overview

We are looking for a highly capable Architectural Project Leader to lead our Penang studio and work closely with an Australian-based architectural team. This is a senior-level position suited to someone with strong technical skills, team leadership experience, and the ability to manage and deliver high-quality documentation packages across multiple projects.

About the Role

As a lead architect, you will be responsible for managing a team of 4–5 architects and technicians, delivering comprehensive documentation across 2–3 concurrent projects. Working remotely with our Australian counterparts, you will play a key role in translating design intent into detailed documentation from town planning through to tender and construction phases.

You will also be responsible for overseeing coordination with consultants, reviewing the team’s work for quality and accuracy, and contributing to the development of studio processes and skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of architects, ensuring efficient delivery of project documentation
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from post–planning approval to tender and construction documentation
  • Coordinate consultant drawings (structural, MEP, civil) and integrate them accurately into architectural packages
  • Review and quality-check the work of team members to ensure consistency, technical accuracy, and alignment with project standards
  • Produce detailed drawing packages including plans, sections, elevations, and schedules (e.g., window and door schedules)
  • Liaise with international (Australian) project teams to ensure : Clear project briefing and understanding of design intent; Defined scope, deliverables, and deadlines; Ongoing quality assurance and documentation standards
  • Development of team skill sets and technical capabilities
  • Preferred but not essential : Support authority submission processes where required familiarity with Malaysian regulations

Requirements

  • min.6 years of architectural experience, with a focus on documentation and project coordination
  • Proven ability to manage teams and deliver high-quality architectural packages independently
  • Strong understanding of construction detailing and technical documentation
  • Ability to coordinate with a range of consultants and interpret their drawings accurately
  • Experience in multi-residential or townhouse projects is an advantage
  • Prior experience working with remote or international teams is a plus
  • Preferred but not essential : Proficient in Revit; experience with BIM360 or similar platforms
  • Preferred but not essential : Understanding with Australian building codes (BCA / NCC) and construction
