Job description

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, and testing of embedded firmware / software for high-performance optical transceivers.
  • Deliver firmware packages according to project timelines, handling in-circuit testing, PCBA bring-up, and system-level debugging.
  • Collaborate with Finisar’s global firmware / software teams and adhere to processes related to firmware architecture, development, debugging, optimization, and validation.
  • Work with various teams, including marketing, transceiver engineering, product engineering, and customer support, to support the entire product lifecycle.
  • Assist with new product development and the maintenance of existing products at the Finisar Shanghai site, utilizing microprocessors.
  • Coordinate with teams across global locations to provide software / firmware support.

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Understanding of embedded systems and practical experience in developing microcontroller firmware.
  • Familiarity with I2C and SPI communication protocols.
  • Recent graduates passionate about R&D roles are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Knowledge of fiber optic transceiver technologies and MSA standards.
  • Familiarity with firmware quality assurance, testing, and validation methodologies.
  • Understanding of board-level hardware design.
  • Experience in GUI or application software development.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities; proficient in using testing equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative team player who is self-motivated and capable of working independently.
