Mechanical Design Engineer – responsible for end‑to‑end product development using Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
Responsibilities
- Product development : Drive new product design, development, and improvement projects from initial concept through to the end of the product's life.
- Customer and team collaboration : Work with customers to translate their requirements into detailed design specifications. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including manufacturing, supply chain, and other engineering groups, to ensure a robust and high‑quality final product.
- Product support : Provide ongoing support during the manufacturing process, address defects, and use customer feedback and testing data to repair or improve existing designs.
- Technical documentation : Create high‑quality 3D models, detailed 2D production drawings, and other necessary technical documentation. Ensure all designs comply with company procedures, client standards, and industry regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical EngineeringExperience in mechanical design in a multi‑disciplinary environment and multiple types of product development cycles.3 – 5 years of related experience in similar job roles.Required Skills
Expert in using CAD design tools – Creo is a must, Siemens NX or SolidWorks, and AutoCAD is a plus.Good skills in Microsoft Office software.Fluent in both written and spoken English, ability to work in an international team.Good knowledge of industrial standards and system‑level environmental compliance.Good teamwork attitude, collaboration and communication skills.Good knowledge of sheet‑metal design and weldment design.Good understanding of design for assembly, design for manufacturing, design for serviceability, design for excellence, and design for IP6k9k.Expertise in mechanical tolerance analysis and DFMEA.Good knowledge of interpreting & generating 2D drawings per mechanical drafting standard.Preferred Skills
Material and manufacturing expertise : deep knowledge of material science and various manufacturing techniques (sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, tooling limitations). Expertise in designing welded structures and components joined by welding, considering process, material selection, distortion control, and inspection techniques.Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) : Accurately apply GD&T principles to 2D production prints and conduct tolerance stack‑up analyses.Design for Manufacturing (DFM) : Engineer products that are optimized for cost‑effective manufacturing.Design for Assembly (DFA) : Ensure products are designed for efficient and simplified assembly processes.Design for Serviceability (DFS) : Consider maintenance and repair during the design phase.Design for Excellence (DFX) : Perform formal DFX reviews and provide feedback to internal design teams.Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) : Participate in DFMEA processes to identify and mitigate potential design failures.Ingress Protection (IP6k9k) : Design and validate products to meet specific environmental standards, such as ingress protection ratings, particularly for capital equipment projects.Component selection : Research and select suitable off‑the‑shelf (OTS) components and ensure optimal integration into the product design.Seniority level
