A Manager, Research and Innovations (Haircare / Skincare) with extensive experience in product development within haircare / skincare, set up laboratory capabilities and manage a team of scientists along with strong project management skills. The incumbent shall oversee all phases of product development, from ideation to launch, by leading the team in product formulation, testing, scaling up and commercialization. Ensure product quality, safety protocols, processes and workflow are properly documented. He / she shall ensure projects operation run smoothly by scheduling staff, ordering supplies, maintaining health and safety protocols, as well as training lab technical and quality / control analysis / technical experts in various aspects.
He / she shall be actively involved in open innovations projects, research and development work and gauge performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance; certifying instrument performance etc.
The role shall work closely with key senior personnel and management in understanding the needs of the company and meeting timelines and deliverables in producing desired research results and market success. The main duties of the incumbent can be summarized as follows :
Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage and lead the Innovation department in research activities, including concept development, scope definition, feasibility analysis, process development, and product / operational risk assessments.
- Oversee end-to-end product R&D for haircare and skincare, from formulation through scale-up, production trials, pre-commercialization testing, and implementation in collaboration with the production plant.
- Lead the design, setup, and establishment of a new product development laboratory, including equipment procurement, SOP implementation, budget oversight, and resource management.
- Develop and execute project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and progress updates to senior management.
- Identify opportunities for product improvements, cost reductions, and process optimization; collaborate with cross-functional teams to define objectives, requirements, and implement actionable solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement by eliminating unnecessary complexities, addressing process gaps, and executing effective strategies.
- Ensure laboratory operations comply with health, safety, and regulatory standards, while supporting teams to meet product compliance requirements.
- Train, mentor, and guide junior staff, fostering technical expertise and professional growth.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers and vendors for raw materials, equipment, and services.
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
A Bachelor, Masters or Ph.D in Chemistry, Cosmetics Science, Chemical Engineering or any equivalent degree.Minimum 8 years of R&D team management experience.Experience in research and development, formulation, process development and scaling up.Deep understanding of haircare / skincare formulations, ingredients, and manufacturing processes.Experience in setting up new laboratory infrastructure.Ability to lead and manage work independently, simultaneously manage projects, seek innovative solutions, continuous improvement of product and process, and drive results to completion on schedule.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work while multitasking.Demonstrate motivation and excellent work ethic.Must work effectively in team environments.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
