Role Description : Packaging Designer

Location : Telokmas, Malacca

Employment Type : Full-Time, On-Site

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Packaging Designer to support the development, improvement, and compliance of product packaging. The Packaging Officer will assist in sourcing, designing, testing, and verifying packaging materials to ensure functionality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with company standards, including Halal, food safety, and quality requirements. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and external designers to deliver effective and innovative packaging solutions for both new and existing products.

Key Responsibilities

Packaging Development & Design :

  • Assist in sourcing packaging materials for new or modified projects in compliance with Halal and safety requirements.
  • Follow end-to-end packaging development procedures (planning, development, review, verification, and validation).
  • Work with external designers and printers to ensure timely delivery of packaging designs, prototypes, and specifications.
  • Create and adapt packaging artwork such as stickers, labels, cartons, and promotional designs.

Packaging Improvement & Compliance :

  • Monitor, review, and re-edit packaging based on feedback from Sales and customers.
  • Verify first incoming packaging materials and ensure standard samples are correct.
  • Prepare and update Packaging Specifications for production lines.
  • Ensure packaging procedures and records comply with ISO, QMS, FSMS, and Halal requirements.

    • Project & Cost Management :

  • Define timelines and maintain traceability records for all packaging projects.
  • Record amendments and maintain proper project documentation.
  • Drive cost reduction through packaging material rationalization and supplier diversification.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to test and implement optimum packaging designs.

    • General Duties :

  • Support marketing and company events with creative materials (banners, promotional items).
  • Ensure compliance with 5S, hygiene, safety, and GMP practices.
  • Support CSR initiatives and perform other packaging-related tasks as assigned.

    • Skills & Competencies

  • Strong interest and creativity in packaging design
  • Knowledge of packaging terminology, concepts, and technology
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools and MS Office
  • Attention to detail and ability to think outside the box
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Organizational and time management skills

    • Qualifications

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in packaging or related design work
  • Proficiency in English and Malay; Mandarin is an added advantage
  • Experience in manufacturing or FMCG packaging preferred
  • Knowledge of ISO, Halal, and food safety requirements is an advantage
