Job Title : Data Center Systems Engineer

Job Overview :

Shinjiru Technology Sdn Bhd is a leading web hosting company with over two decades of experience in delivering world-class hosting solutions. As a Data Center Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the deployment, customization, and maintenance of customer servers hosted in our data center. Your role is essential in ensuring the delivery of reliable, secure, and high-performance hosting services to our global clientele.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provision and configure new dedicated and virtual servers based on client orders and specifications.
  • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot customer servers to ensure uptime, performance, and security.
  • Install, configure, and manage operating systems, including Linux (CentOS, AlmaLinux, Ubuntu, Debian), Windows Server, and macOS.
  • Configure and manage networking devices such as switches and firewalls (VLAN setup, routing, access control policies).
  • Work closely with the support and provisioning teams to ensure timely server delivery and issue resolution.
  • Perform regular server maintenance, OS updates, and apply security patches.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware issues; coordinate replacements and escalate as needed.
  • Document server builds, configurations, and incident reports for internal use.
  • Follow best practices for physical data center operations, including power management, cabling, and equipment organization.
  • Participate in rotational on-call and weekend duty schedules.

Requirements & Qualifications :

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a data center or web hosting environment preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
  • Good knowledge of networking fundamentals : IP addressing, routing, VLANs, and firewall configuration.
  • Familiarity with server hardware, RAID configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with hosting control panels (e.g., cPanel, Plesk, CWP, VestaCP) is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willing to work Monday to Friday (9 AM – 6 PM) and rotational weekends / on-call shifts.

    • Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) :

  • Experience in the web hosting industry.
  • Familiarity with server monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Grafana, Nagios).
  • Basic scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Understanding of virtualization platforms (e.g., KVM, Proxmox, VMware).
