Overview
Database Administrator (MS SQL) role at Avanade in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Responsible for the effective design, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of database systems within the Asia Pacific region, primarily MSSQL Server databases, and other technologies such as Oracle, IBM DB2, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain multiple database systems across different platforms.
- Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks; perform tuning to optimize operations and resource utilization.
- Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect data integrity and privacy; regularly update security protocols.
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies; test plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Provide expert-level support for complex database issues; troubleshoot and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Ensure smooth cross-platform data integration and interoperability; collaborate with teams on data migration and synchronization.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Proven experience as an MSSQL Server DBA with familiarity across multiple database technologies and cloud-based solutions.Strong understanding of database structure, theories, principles, and practices.Hands-on experience with database software, scripting languages, and SQL queries.Knowledge of best practices in database administration, backup, recovery, and security.Familiarity with operating systems such as Linux, UNIX, and Windows.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Strong communication and collaboration abilities.Certifications (desirable but not mandatory) :Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
