Job description

MAIN PURPOSES OF JOB :

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will play a pivotal role in driving market entry, development, and expansion strategies. This role is responsible for identifying growth opportunities, mitigating risks, and building strong partnerships in order to accelerate revenue, optimize profitability, and secure long-term market presence. The BDM will act as a strategic enabler, bridging cross-functional teams (SCM, product development, campaigns, and commercial) to ensure alignment and flawless execution in Tier-1 markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

1) Market Development & Strategy Execution (T2 & T3)

Shape and implement market entry, deployment, and expansion strategies.

Conduct in-depth market research to identify consumer trends, competitive threats, and emerging opportunities.

Propose and adapt commercial strategies to fit evolving market conditions.

2) Partnership & Network Building

Build and manage partnerships with distributors, retailers, and key accounts in Tier-2 & 3 markets.

Negotiate and secure mutually beneficial agreements with external stakeholders.

Develop joint business plans with partners to maximize market penetration and growth.

3) Financial & Business Analysis

Develop and evaluate financial models including ROI, profitability, and risk assessments.

Support pricing strategies, margin optimization, and investment decision-making.

Provide scenario planning and sensitivity analyses for leadership approval.

4) Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as the bridge between Supply Chain, Product Development, Campaigns, and Commercial teams.

Ensure seamless alignment of operational execution with strategic priorities.

Propose legal frameworks and safeguards to the Legal Team for initiatives requiring regulatory or contractual protection.

5) Performance Tracking & Reporting

Define, monitor, and track KPIs across sales, market development, and distribution.

Provide data-driven insights and structured reports to management.

Recommend corrective actions and continuous improvement strategies.

KEY OBJECTIVE :

Market Penetration & Growth

  • Achieve targeted market share within the first 1218 months of entry.
  • Secure and maintain Tier-2 & 3 distributor / retailer partnerships within agreed timelines with Market team

Financial & ROI Delivery

  • Deliver positive ROI on market entry investments within agreed payback period.
  • Improve gross margin and profitability of new / existing market channels.
  • Execution & Alignment

  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of product launches, campaigns, and supply chain readiness.
  • Maintain cross-functional alignment with zero major operational bottlenecks.
  • Risk & Compliance Management

  • Ensure legal, regulatory, and contractual safeguards are in place before market activation.
  • Minimize risk exposure by implementing proactive risk management frameworks.
  • Leadership & Reporting

  • Deliver structured monthly / quarterly business reviews with actionable insights.
  • Free up leadership bandwidth by independently managing executional aspects while escalating only strategic-level decisions.
