Job description
A leading medical devices manufacturer is looking for a dynamic Director of Manufacturing to lead the development and implementation of manufacturing processes within a world class manufacturing plant. This role reports directly to the Regional Head of Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities :
- Leading the strategic foresight, applied research, and pilot programs for the Production, R&D and NPI departments
- Align and execute the company's vision and strategies to achieve operational excellence and meet factory objectives
- Collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to align and define strategic directions for manufacturing processes
- Drive the development of manufacturing processes for new products
- Oversee the creation of new manufacturing processes to support product launches and ensure effective interdepartmental collaboration
- Formulate strategies for cost reduction and enhancing lean competitiveness
- Ensure adherence to company standards and regulations
- Manage a team of engineers dedicated to process improvement projects, including reducing cycle time through automation or other methods
- Supervise capital equipment planning, including budgeting for new equipment purchases and upgrades to existing equipment when necessary
- Implementing and maintaining TPM, 5S, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
- Effectively managing labour requirements, manpower planning, production planning, stock management, instrumentation calibration, plant improvement while developing innovative systems and processes
- Improving processes and policies in support of organizational goals, formulating, and implementing departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output, and monitoring adherence to rules, regulations and procedures
Key Requirements :
Tertiary qualification in Engineering or related field of studyMinimum twenty years of manufacturing engineering management experience, preferably within the medical devices industryIn-depth knowledge of textile engineering processes is idealFamiliar with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, etc.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholdersAble to work autonomously, be self-driven and not reliant on othersAble to adapt yourself well in various international settings for long periods of timeAble to resolve conflicts, visionary and possess the foresight to plan ahead for the businessExperience managing large, diverse, and remote teams across multiple regionsExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-makingAbility to travel internationally as required
