JOB TITLE : Superintendent - Construction (Coating & Insulation)
Key responsibilities :
- Attending technical review meeting with contractor and coating manufacturer for the close out of coating issues and reporting periodically to site team lead.
- Qualification, review, and approval of vendor coating system for the offshore jacket and OSP equipment as per Norsok M-501 and ISO 12944 (suitability of coating system complies with CX corrosive marine environment.)
- Coating procedure qualification / approval for the offshore jacket different zonal boundaries as submerged, splash and atmospheric zone top sides such as main deck, control deck and roof deck
- Lining procedure qualification for sump tank and material approval.
- Witnessing mockup and approval of antistatic coating system (floor screed) for battery room and verification of resistance requirements as per IEC62485
- Anti-skid coating system for walkway and helideck. Piping and HVAC coating system material approval
- Review and approval of technical queries relevant to coating issues and resolving with technical compliance as per Norsok M-501.
Coating :
Familiarization and extensive exposure of BS EN ISO12944 ,Norsok M501,ISO4628 and relevant standards pertaining to CX ,IM4 environmental requirements in coating and insulation disciplines.Execution of work folder preparation including paint map, paint matrix, manpower resources and execution plan prior to start with CPT and production painting activities.Coordination of production painting between QA / QC team, sub-contractor, paint manufacturer and companyFamiliarization with specialty coating like anti-static floor coating system requirement and its in line with IEC standard.Demonstrate an understanding of the choice and use of proper protective equipment.Evaluate whether the object to be surface treated is ready for blast cleaning.Evaluate if a blast cleaned substrate has received the specified cleanliness and roughness.Explain the importance of correct thinning and mixing of paint components.Determine the wet film thickness (WFT) necessary to achieve the DFT specified in CADS.Identify, use, and maintain personal protective equipment.Environmental control.Maintain health, safety, and environmental protection measuresPrepare and maintain working areas for undertaking work safely and effectively including the safeUse and storage of equipment and material.Use of established procedures related to health, safety and environment and employer’s workProcedure handling techniques to move equipment, material, and waste.Read and work to according to procedures, specifications and the inspection and test plan.Achieve the specified standard of work including the use of appropriate quality control devices.Demonstrate responsibility for the quality and accuracy of their work including identifying andrectifying surface preparation.Undertake the specified method of surface preparation of the steel work (e.g. by hand or power toolcleaning, blast cleaning) .Undertake the specified method of protective coating application (e.g. by brush, roller, spray), to therequired standards.Identify instances where improvements to the workplace safety have been implemented and explainthe importance of these actions.Describe a range of common fault diagnosis techniques and explain where these are best applied.Justify why specific techniques are selected to identify and rectify faults.Provide examples of instances where unsafe / undesirable behaviors have been experienced andexplain how these occurrences were handled.Explain a non-conformance situation and give a description of faults discovered and outline the correct actions that should have been taken to avoid this situation.Explain how to contribute to the productivity and dynamics of a working team.Insulation :
Familiarization with architectural insulation international codes such as Norsok and ISO thermal insulation for piping.Selection of fire rated insulation according to the engineering drawing requirement and complies all relevant Specifications.Verification testing certificates in line with Specifications and manufacturer recommendationsCoordinating with insulation vendor and site execution plan with the vendor timely manner for the target date.Coordination with engineering to update the as built changes as per site conditions.Transformer room bulkhead and deck plate insulation execution starting with pinning to installation as per codes and SPEVerify the coat back length and selected insulation system including cladding comply with CX corrosive environmentEquipment insulation such as fire rated for bulk and deck head. Material approval (rock wool slab) and installation requirements as per IMO FTP code and SOLAS requirement.Verifying fire rated overlap with adjacent thermal / acoustic insulation and staggering of each layer as per design code DNVGL-ST-0145Witnessed vapor barrier installation upon fire rated and thermal insulation.Weather protection cladding installation and material approval for the flexible elastomeric sealantAttending technical review meeting with vendor in the field of insulation / cladding issues as per Norsok M-004Material approval and installation requirement of piping insulation (cellular glass) with vertical and horizontal claddingVerify the thickness and installation requirement for heat tracer lines and thermal insulation (FEF) for fuel lineHVAC insulation installation (rock wool slab with vapor barrier) and external SS cladding with suitable spacer to avoid galvanic couples.Refrigerant piping insulation with external vertical SS cladding installation and sealant application.Responsible for Punch point and final ITR closure.
