Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development : Design and update comprehensive Interior Design / Interior Architecture courses that reflect the latest industry trends and academic standards.
  • Teaching Excellence : Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and lab sessions across a variety of Interior Design / Interior Architecture subjects, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and software.
  • Student Assessment : Create and evaluate examinations, assignments, and projects to gauge student knowledge and skills, providing constructive feedback.
  • Research Contribution : Conduct and publish impactful research in the Interior Design / Interior Architecture field and supervise student research projects and theses.
  • Professional Development : Remain current with technological advancements and pedagogical strategies through continued education and active participation in academic communities.
  • Community and Industry Engagement : Collaborate with industry experts to ensure curriculum relevance and foster opportunities for student placements.
  • Mentorship : Offer academic advice and personal mentorship to students, guiding them towards academic and professional success.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Interior Design / Interior Architecture / Architecture
  • Registered Interior Design with LAM (IDr.)
  • 10 years minimum of working experience in Interior Design industries
  • Minimum Competencies

  • Applicants can be from the category of compulsory retirees based on IIUM compulsory retirement age from IIUM, other higher learning institutions; or distinguished figures from the industries, civil service or professionals.
  • Malaysian and International applicants are welcome to apply.
  • A blend of academic qualifications, teaching abilities, research skills, and personal attributes.
  • Prior experience in teaching and research in the higher education sector is an added advantage.
  • Other Requirements

  • A strong foundation and knowledge in Interior Design / Interior Architecture.
  • Proficiency or specialization in any of the following areas :
  • Interior Design Professional Practice
  • Building materials and finishes
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • A strong track record of published research and participation in the academic community is highly desirable.
  • Language Qualifications

  • For Malaysian citizens : Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
  • IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidates without any of these qualifications will be required to take the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
