THE ROLE :

The AMD (Strategic Silicon Solutions) System Debug Team is seeking an energetic, experienced System Debug Engineer to join our growing team. Past products include blockbuster titles such as PlayStation, XBOX, and SteamDeck. You will work closely with our customers developing AMD processor, chipset, and graphics-based systems, and collaborate with internal validation teams to debug system issues to meet product development and sustaining milestones.

As a key contributor, you will drive AMD’s capabilities in delivering high-quality, industry-leading technologies, fostering technical innovation, and supporting continuous career development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Debug semi-custom PC-like systems focusing on system-level debug across multiple IPs and system domains.
  • Provide root cause analysis and guidance for issue resolution to internal and external teams.
  • Define and execute debug IP functional test plans and validation strategies.
  • Review schematics and layout files.
  • Drive technical innovations to enhance AMD’s system debug capabilities, including tool and script development.
  • Support debugging of system issues during pre-silicon, bring-up, validation, and production phases.
  • Lead technical discussions to resolve issues and implement initiatives.

Preferred Experience :

  • 3-5 years of experience with low-level software / firmware, embedded systems, and post-silicon verification.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, including x86 and ARM, and debug practices.
  • Experience with board / platform-level debug and industry standard busses (DDR, PCIe, I2C, USB, SATA).
  • Proficiency with debuggers, programmers, and tools like JTAG, Dstream, Lauterbach.
  • Knowledge of BIOS, OS, and Driver interactions at the system level.
  • Debug experience with Windows and Linux OS.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with lab equipment and reading schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Knowledge of C, C++, assembly, scripting languages, and architecture design.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Exposure to Android OS debugging methodologies.

    • ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS :

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or related fields.
