The Financial Accountant will report to the Director, Finance and Accounting. The post-holder will be responsible for a variety of activities that include, but are not limited to, maintenance of general ledger, financial reporting, liaising with auditors and management of projects.

Summary of Key Responsibilities :

Assist with preparation and review of monthly journals related to revenue accounting and treasury functions and prepare accompanying reconciliations and schedules
Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports, including management accounts and accompanying schedules
Assist with preparation of periodic reports to various governmental and other regulatory bodies
Assist with audits, budgets, general enquiries, research and projects, as assigned
Assist with review and further development of internal control systems
Ensure that all deliverables comply with regulatory guidance and professional standards
Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills & Experience :

Professional designation required (CPA, CA)

Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or equivalent

Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

Strong analytical and accounting skills, with minimum three (3) years’ experience in financial accounting that includes preparation of management accounts

Ability to analyze big data and prepare effective summaries detailing conclusions based on data analytics

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work in highly challenging and busy environment

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment

Willingness to work the hours necessary to meet deadlines

Proficiency in working and developing Excel spreadsheets

Experience with SQL, writing and managing database queries to present data preferred

Experience with Sage and Platinum accounting software preferred
