Piping Stress Engineer
Location : Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Job Type : Full-time, Contract
Job Purpose
The Piping Stress Engineer reports directly to the Piping Stress Lead for all stress activities on assigned projects. The role covers pipe stress and flexibility analysis, related piping design activities, and administration matters.
Responsibilities
- Prepare job specifications for stress analysis
- Ensure all work is reviewed and checked according to international codes and standards, HSE and QA requirements, client specifications, and project requirements
- Prepare lists of critical lines and stress calculation notes
- Collaborate with piping designers to ensure satisfactory pipe routing, recommending support types (anchors, guides, springs, sliding plates, etc.) for acceptable stress levels and support loads
- Ensure all piping systems are adequately supported, specifying spring, sliding plates, and other special supports as necessary
- Advise lead on the need for expansion joints, bellows, and other special units
- Liaise with mechanical engineers regarding nozzle loads on equipment
- Prepare specifications, data sheets, material requisitions (MRs), and technical documents for vendor-supplied special supports and units
- Assist in project man-hour estimates and advise lead stress engineer on necessary amendments to project staffing
- Stay up-to-date on developments in pipe stress and flexibility analysis
- Prepare updates or improvements to stress section standards, procedures, or guidelines if requested
- Review support types and locations indicated on IFC isometrics in accordance with approved stress isometrics
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Piping Engineering (or equivalent)Minimum 5–10 years experience in pipe stress and flexibility analysis in process, oil and gas, or industrial projectsProficiency in pipe stress analysis software and engineering toolsStrong understanding of international codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, etc.)Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearlyStrong analytical and problem-solving skills#J-18808-Ljbffr
