The Assistant HR Manager plays a key role in ensuring smooth people operations while supporting the HR Manager and senior leaders in delivering strategic initiatives. You’ll balance hands-on execution with managerial oversight, helping BJAK build a high-performance workforce and a thriving culture.

What You’ll Do

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee daily HR operations including onboarding, confirmation, leave, payroll coordination, and exit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR policies across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain and improve HR systems, processes, and documentation.

Talent Acquisition & Development

  • Support recruitment activities including screening, interviews, and coordination with hiring managers.
  • Partner with HR leadership to design and implement training, upskilling, and career development programs.
  • Assist in succession planning and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Performance & Employee Relations

  • Guide managers through performance management cycles, probation evaluations, and disciplinary processes.
  • Support employee relations cases, escalating complex matters to HR leadership.
  • Champion employee engagement and well-being initiatives.
  • Culture & Engagement

  • Help design and execute engagement activities such as town halls, recognition programs, and surveys.
  • Act as a culture ambassador, ensuring BJAK’s values are embedded in all people processes.
  • Leadership & Support

  • Provide coaching and guidance to junior HR staff.
  • Act as a deputy to the HR Manager, representing HR in meetings when needed.
  • Support HR leadership with reports, analytics, and project implementation.

  • What You Bring

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally across HR operations, employee relations, and recruitment.
  • Solid knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices in Malaysia and / or regional markets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence across teams.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior HR staff is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and data reporting.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and eagerness to grow into a future HR leadership role.
