Role Description

We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our growing remote-first team. You’ll play a hands-on technical and leadership role — guiding the development of backend systems that power CitySage’s Urban Intelligence platform. This role is approximately 70% engineering / 30% delivery , involving both hands-on coding and technical direction .

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using TypeScript and Node.js
Build scalable, cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Lead and mentor a small development team
Collaborate with product, AI, and data teams to define architecture and deliverables
Ensure high-quality code through testing, reviews, and CI / CD pipelines
Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of systems
Contribute to product strategy and technical roadmap

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Software Engineering , or related field

3–7 years of experience in software engineering , with some leadership exposure

Strong background in backend development and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

Proficiency in TypeScript , Node.js , and GCP (or similar cloud platforms)

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

Comfortable working independently in a remote environment

Bonus : Experience with AI technologies , geospatial systems , or urban planning data
