Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Chef de Partie to join our culinary team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for overseeing a specific section of the kitchen, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining excellent standards of hygiene and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate activities in a designated section of the kitchen
  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to menu specifications and quality standards
  • Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in developing new menu items and improving existing recipes
  • Ensure proper food storage, handling, and rotation to maintain freshness and minimize waste
  • Train and supervise junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and kitchen procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Collaborate with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth service and timely food delivery
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen inventory, placing orders for supplies as needed
  • Participate in menu planning and cost control initiatives
  • Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Contribute to a positive team atmosphere and maintain professional relationships with all staff

Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or diploma in culinary arts
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role
  • Extensive knowledge of various cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety regulations, and hygiene standards
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities
  • Creativity and passion for culinary innovation
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia is a plus
  • Familiarity with Malaysian cuisine and local ingredients
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the culinary field
