Purchasing Officer / Assistant

Overview

South Island Garment Sdn. Bhd. (SIG), a subsidiary of Magni-Tech Industries Berhad, has been a cornerstone of the garment industry in Penang, Malaysia since 1975. SIG manufactures and partners with one of the world’s largest athletic apparel companies, exporting to international markets including the USA, European countries, South America, China, Japan, Mexico, Australia and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchasing process by sourcing and evaluating new suppliers, negotiating prices, material lead times, and terms, and ensuring adherence to the company's standards for quality, cost, and delivery.
• Collaborate with various departments to align purchasing activities with company goals and requirements.
• Support the Material Manager by assisting with the daily activities and operations related to purchasing.
• Monitor and follow up on material deliveries to ensure timely receipt and address any issues that arise.
• Prepare and present monthly Supplier Performance Reports, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under stress and be prepared to travel overseas as needed for supplier meetings and inspections.
