Ultra Clean Technology (UCT) is a fast‑growing developer of gas delivery systems for semiconductor manufacturing. The company is setting up a new facility in Penang, Malaysia, and is looking for a Senior / Engineer, IT User Support to lead and manage the IT support team.

Position Overview

Senior / Engineer, IT User Support – Malaysia

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise IT support team, oversee daily activities, and ensure high‑quality service delivery.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, training and performance feedback to team members.
  • Assign tasks, manage priorities and balance workload across the team.
  • Act as escalation point for complex technical issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Track and report support metrics, ticket resolution times, and team performance.
  • Provide technical support for hardware, software, networks and other IT systems to local and global users.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems using diagnostic tools and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware components (desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals).
  • Install, configure, and update operating systems, applications, and drivers.
  • Create, modify and deactivate user accounts across systems and applications.
  • Assist in configuration and maintenance of LAN / WAN and other network infrastructure.
  • Manage door‑access, CCTV and employee clock‑in systems.
  • Assist with vendor management and procurement of hardware, software and services.
  • Document IT systems, procedures, and configurations; share knowledge with team and end‑users.
  • Conduct training sessions on IT best practices and tools.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage incident tickets, ensuring timely communication with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security, data privacy and service delivery standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service with strong communication and empathy skills.

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 4–5 years of IT support experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
  • Experience in manufacturing or clean‑room environments is preferred.
  • ITIL Foundation, CompTIA A+ / Network+, Microsoft certifications (M365, Windows) or equivalent preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes

  • Strong leadership and team coordination.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Windows 10 / 11, Server OS.
  • Experience with desktop / laptop hardware and networked devices.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, LANs, VOIP, NAS / SAN, and print servers.
  • Good documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Customer‑focused with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Ability to handle high‑pressure situations and demanding expectations.
  • Strong stress‑management and emotional resilience.
  • Willingness to respond to critical IT issues and emergencies outside normal hours.
  • Physical ability to walk extensively and carry IT equipment.
