Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Engineer, Mechanical in reviewing and commenting on EPCC contractor deliverables, including mechanical drawings (e.g., plant layouts, P&ID drawings), technical data sheets, specifications, and calculations.
  • Ensure that the EPC contractor’s mechanical designs and installations comply with relevant international codes (e.g., ASME, API) and project-specific standards.
  • Assist in managing and responding to technical queries and RFIs from the EPCC contractor and / or authorities, coordinating with the Owner’s Engineer as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating mechanical interfaces with other disciplines (e.g., civil, EIC) to prevent clashes and ensure seamless integration.
  • Support the Lead Engineer, Mechanical in witnessing FATs for mechanical equipment as required, documenting results and ensuring tests are conducted according to approved procedures.
  • Conduct on-site inspections of mechanical installations (e.g., weld quality, pipe supports, equipment alignment) to verify they meet quality standards and are installed as per approved drawings and specifications.
  • Regularly monitor progress of mechanical construction activities on site, such as equipment erection, piping and pumps / fans installation.
  • Participate in site safety walks and meetings, reporting any unsafe acts or conditions related to mechanical work to the Lead Engineer, Mechanical and the site safety team.
  • Assist in tracking and reporting the physical progress of mechanical construction and installation activities.
  • Participate in site walkdowns to create and manage the mechanical punch list and track the completion of outstanding items.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 4 years of working experience, including at least 2 years in power / utilities / waste management (or similar industry) or 2 years in an engineering role for construction projects.
  • Strong technical expertise in power plant and waste management, particularly in mechanical, process, incinerator, boiler and turbine systems.
  • Good knowledge of power and waste management-related laws, policies, codes and standards.
  • Good knowledge of project development, construction management and O&M.
