Overview

Business Performance Analyst sits within the Global Consumer Financial Services (GCFS) Finance team in a newly established Malaysia hub. The role centralizes and manages financial data across Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Macau, ensuring timely and accurate consolidation of results. The analyst performs variance and trend analyses and generates insightful financial reports as part of driving process improvements and supporting the finance transformation initiative across regions.

Responsibilities

  • Data Integrity & Management : Ensure the integrity of consolidated financial and non-financial data for the GCFS division. Clean and map raw General Ledger data to create reliable financial statements and consolidate data from various markets into a single database.
  • Performance Reporting & Analysis : Prepare and analyze consolidated performance reports for the GCFS division. Conduct variance analyses to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Centralized Budgeting & Forecasting : Standardize budgeting practices across markets and manage the operational budget and forecasts. Review current practices, standardize procedures, load budget data accurately, and provide supplementary information to Group Finance.
  • Finance Transformation Initiative : Participate in and support transformation initiatives such as new reporting system rollout. Understand current workflows, perform user acceptance tests, propose new processes or solutions, and facilitate a smooth transition to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities to automate workflows for efficiency. Develop process documentation and propose improvements to streamline data consolidation and reporting.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience : 5+ years in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), financial reporting, or data analysis roles, preferably in banking. Experience in a shared services environment or regional finance team is an added advantage.
  • Technical Skills : Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, Power Query, formulas, macros) and Microsoft Access for database management and reporting. Familiarity with SQL or other data tools is a plus. Ability to handle large datasets efficiently and accurately.
  • Finance Knowledge : Understanding of accounting principles (P&L, balance sheet) and financial processes (budgeting, forecasting). Ability to interpret financial results and perform variance analysis.
  • Analytical Mindset : Strong logical reasoning, problem-solving, attention to detail, and commitment to data integrity.
  • Communication & Collaboration : Effective communicator with the ability to work with colleagues across multiple countries and levels of management. Confidence to challenge assumptions and build consensus.
  • Self-motivated & Proactive : Proactively seeks process improvements and can manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Experience in a shared services / centralized hub is a bonus.
