Job Description
1. Operation & Maintenance
- Carry out operation, maintenance, and repair of HV electrical systems up to 33 kV including switchgear, transformers, ring main units, and associated protection systems.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM manuals, statutory requirements, and company SOPs.
- Conduct trouble-shooting and fault isolation during breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime.
2. Compliance & Safety
Ensure all works comply with Suruhanjaya Tenaga regulations, Electricity Regulations 1994, and other statutory requirements.Lead high voltage switching operations safely using approved procedures and Permit-to-Work systems.Maintain records of switching logs, inspection reports, and maintenance activities.3. Inspection & Testing
Conduct periodic inspection, testing, and calibration of protection relays, meters, and HV equipment.Supervise and witness testing done by third-party contractors.4. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare daily / weekly / monthly reports on system status, incidents, and maintenance works.Maintain updated electrical SLDs, equipment registers, and statutory documents.5. Supervision & Coordination
Supervise and guide electrical technicians, contractors, and vendors during HV work.Liaise with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Suruhanjaya Tenaga, and other relevant authorities as required.6. Emergency Response
Respond promptly to electrical faults, alarms, and emergency shutdowns.Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning after major incidents.Job Qualification
Valid Chargeman BO certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), authorized for operation and maintenance of electrical installations up to 33 kVMinimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power, or equivalent technical qualification3–5 years hands-on experience in operation and maintenance of High Voltage (HV) installations (11 kV / 33 kV) and associated equipment (switchgear, transformers, protection relays).Strong understanding of Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, ST licensing requirements, and safe work practices for HV systems.Proficiency in HV switching procedures, troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, and incident reporting.Familiarity with Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems and isolation procedures. Able to read and interpret single-line diagrams (SLD). Good communication and reporting skills. Physically fit for site and plant work.Willing to work on on-call basis and respond to emergencies.Working Conditions
Plant-based role, with occasional site visits.On-call duties for after-hours breakdowns.Requires working in HV switch rooms, outdoor substations, and industrial environments.
