Overview
Associate Engineer, Manufacturing Operations at GlobalFoundries. This position will be based in Penang, Malaysia. GlobalFoundries is a leading full-service semiconductor foundry providing a unique combination of design, development, and fabrication services to technology companies with a global manufacturing footprint across three continents.
Job Purpose : Assist in the day-to-day production shop floor management, resource management, automation and equipment performance, WIP management, PM management, activity coordination, problem-solving, and decision-making as part of a business process outsourcing team. Handle overall manufacturing support functions including changeroom and materials logistics and post-fab operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in meeting daily targets and overall operation goals such as cycle time, throughput, prototype success, and shipment plans.
- Manage centralized test wafer operations including preparation, recycling, re-route / downgrade via online SiView MEs in both offline and EIM + auto delivery execution mode.
- Operate test wafer recycling and FOUP (Carrier) cleaning tools; perform routine first-level PM and setup.
- Oversee reticle management (with exceptions for specific individuals).
- Manage WIP and tooling, including WIP balancing, held and queue lots, equipment PM, capacity, and constraint management.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and production control to define real-time shop floor dispatch rules and drive continuous improvements.
- Support monitoring and management of EIM, auto delivery, and RTD status and performance, in coordination with CIM, AMHS, and MFG systems.
- Assist in updating MFG standard operating procedures and coordinate activities after Fabout steps including Etest, internal sort, and OQA.
- Assist in report preparation and other coordination tasks as required.
Education & Experience
Education : Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics / Mechanical / Microelectronics / Chemical Process Technology.Experience : Minimum of 1 year experience in semiconductor industry; preferably in wafer fab environment.Computer literacy; ability to read and understand reports, flow diagrams, and charts; systematic problem-solving.Other essential attributes : physically fit to work 12-hour rotating day / night shifts; demonstrate leadership potential; self-motivated; team player with good interpersonal skills; highly adaptable to changing practices and procedures; strong sense of urgency and commitment.Equal Opportunity
