To provide engineering support for day to day Battery manufacturing process at Sanmina Plant 2.
To support New Product Introduction (NPI) or COS (Continuity of Supply) projects for Battery Products in Sanmina Penang Plant II.
To work very closely with customers’ design engineering team to ensure manufacturability of the new product launch.
May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment automation technology, and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved processes.
May perform other duties as assigned, including work in functional area to cover absences of relief to equalize peak work periods or to balance workload.
Responsibilities
To provide engineering support for day to day MOL activities including Andon / Stop build issues by working closely with internal team as well as the customer’s SDE and MOL teams. To support troubleshooting process to identify the root cause of the issues- eg. Material, or product (specification) or manufacturing process related.
Responsible to provide engineering support for NPI (New Product Introduction) / COS (Continuity of Supply) projects activity at Sanmina Penang Plant II including early involvement with customer Design engineering team to ensure New product design is meeting Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Testability (DFT).
Responsible to coordinate NPI / COS proto and pilot builds and to collect and document build data for product ship acceptance purpose.
To support Battery NPI / COS to comply with the project requirements and to meet the Battery NPI / COS KPI matrices.
To identify NPI / COS build issues regarding product design, material and process issues to document and follow-up for issue closures.
To prepare manufacturing process documentations for NPI / COS models and release to the system prior to product ship acceptance.
To be responsible to support continuous improvements projects to improve quality & scrap cost for Penang Plant II manufacturing facility.
To champion projects to further enhanced the process capability, stability and cycle time reduction through automation or new break through approach.
Expected to be manufacturing process expert to provide inputs to design engineers at product design stage to ensure DFM as well as to provide guidance to technicians and operators in New product manufacturing processes.
To work with suppliers to design assembly processes and fixtures to support NPI builds and to qualify the processes through proto and pilot builds and release the fixtures prior to product ship acceptance.
Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering B. Eng (Hons) or equivalent.
Good team leader and team player.
Good knowledge in statistical tools- SPC, CP, CPK, DOE.
Must be efficient, flexible and willing to drive for changes.
Strong Knowledge in FMEA, SPC, 8D. Experience with battery manufacturing process such as ultrasonic welding, resistance welding, laser welding, gluing or low pressure molding (LPM) process will be an added advantage.
