ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Associate, Finance Operations (Senior Accountant) , will play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of STEM From Dance’s operations. This position will report to the Manager of Operations and will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting processes, overseeing accounts receivable and payable, supporting monthly and annual close cycles, and providing timely and accurate financial data. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about using their financial expertise to support a mission-driven organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bank Reconciliation & Data Integrity
  • Reconcile all bank accounts and transactions on a regular basis.
  • Ensure consistency between bank records, Salesforce data, and the general ledger.
  • General Bookkeeping & Accounting
  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting in accordance with GAAP for nonprofit organizations, including general ledger maintenance.
  • Lead the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Assist with yearly external audit requests and 990 filings.
  • Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
  • Manage AR / AP processes, including invoice generation, vendor payments, and receivables tracking.
  • Oversee and respond to inquiries from the accounting operations email inbox.
  • Expense Management
  • Administer and manage the organization’s expense management platform (RAMP).
  • Monitor compliance with expense policies and provide staff support on expense submissions.
  • Financial Reporting
  • Prepare internal financial reports and analysis as requested by the CFOO and leadership team.
  • Support the preparation of financial documentation for audits, grant reporting, and board meetings.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CMA, CPA, CGMA, or progress toward preferred).
  • Expert in GAAP for nonprofit organizations and non-govermental organizations (NGO).
  • 3–7 years of professional accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
  • Proficiency with finance and accounting software including : QuickBooks Online, FathomHQ, Bill.com, and strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and expense management tools (e.g., RAMP, Expensify, Concur) a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
