Lead / Senior Electrical Design Engineer

In this role, you will join our Buildings business, leading electrical engineering activities across a wide range of projects. You will contribute from initial scoping through detailed design, commissioning and handover, including preparation of technical specifications, reports and estimates. You will support tender preparation and client negotiations, engage with clients and colleagues to deliver successful outcomes, provide expert advice, and ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and regulations. You will assist in project planning, scheduling and budgeting to deliver projects on time and within budget, build strong client relationships, prepare technical reports and proposals, and collaborate with other engineers and designers. You will mentor and develop other electrical engineers and provide electrical design leadership across projects, drawing on Aurecon’s consultancy services.

  • Lead electrical engineering projects from scoping to handover, including technical specifications, reports, and estimates.
  • Contribute to tender preparation and client negotiations to achieve profitable objectives.
  • Engage with clients and team members to deliver successful outcomes and support market development.
  • Provide expert guidance on feasibility studies, design reviews and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and analyse electrical designs to comply with relevant codes and standards.
  • Assist in project planning, scheduling and budgeting to ensure on-time delivery and budget adherence.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and propose tailored solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations and proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and project teams to deliver projects.
  • Mentor and develop other electrical engineers and oversee technical aspects of projects.
  • Provide client consultation leveraging professional expertise and Aurecon’s consultancy services.

What can you bring to the team?

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering, with at least 8–10 years of professional experience in buildings services, including 2–3 years in data centre design or related.
  • Strong background in building electrical design within a consulting environment is advantageous.
  • Interest in innovative, energy-efficient and sustainable projects.
  • Project leadership and management experience with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Pro-active, able to work independently or as part of a team, with good communication skills and business acumen.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with proven business development and account management abilities.
  • High computer literacy with exposure to BIM / Revit; strong problem-solving through investigation and analysis.
  • Familiarity with digital tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Navisworks, BIM360 and BIM processes.
  • Ability to navigate 3D BIM models to review multi-disciplinary designs, identify issues, provide solutions and guide the design team.
