Global Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group’s reputation by helping to future-proof the organization through robust legal risk and issue advisory. Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all global businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate and Institutional Banking.
Principle Responsibilities :
- To act as the senior legal adviser lawyer primarily responsible for business partnering of Corporate Institutional Banking.
- To work with the General Counsel, Malaysia and Head of Legal HSBC Amanah (M) Berhad to implement and communicate the strategic and operational objectives of the Global Legal Function across the Conventional and Amanah business and identify, formulate and communicate policies and procedures in line with these objectives.
- To provide proactive legal advice, guidance and support to Conventional and Amanah, and to other business areas and functions as required to ensure that the Group’s exposure to legal risk is managed effectively.
- To effectively risk steward for Corporate Institutional Banking proactively identify legal risks faced in transactions / projects / business, to raise the same at governance forums and challenge the business on the adequacy of controls managing the legal risks.
- To manage and provide guidance to lawyers supporting the Conventional and Amanah business.
- To represent the legal function in Corporate Institutional Banking senior governance forum such as Corporate Institutional Banking EXCO and Business Risk Committee
