FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to oversee the payroll function including the processing and payment of hourly and salary payroll and all employment related taxes and oversee the proper compliance with Local and other relevant guidelines. The position will promote quality and integrity of the accounting output by effectively managing all aspects of the corporation’s payroll processes through effective communication and a positive customer service attitude. This includes building / maintaining a cohesive and effective staff; day-to-day management of departmental staff; modifying and maintaining policies; continually seeking mechanisms to streamline and automate processes; and building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Payroll department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraisal performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Accountable for all work produced by the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and professionally respond to technical and complex questions from groups of healthcare professionals, managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to effectively interact with international customers and their local customs as needed.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Possesses strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency with Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and / or PowerPoint. Oracle or other major ERP system experience is required. May be required to learn more complex computer programs, GoToMeeting, or other web-based meeting and download software.
