Position Summary
The Shore-Based Accountant - Payables is responsible for managing the accounts payable cycle, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments. This role is also to ensure cash flow projection for up-coming due payments are properly tracked and forecasted. The accountant also performs general finance tasks as needed to support cruise operations and shore-side functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable Management
Process vendor invoices, verify supporting documentation, and ensure timely payments
Monitor aging reports and manage payment cycles in alignment with cash flow forecastsCoordinate with procurement and operations teams to validate goods / services receivedMaintain vendor master data and ensure compliance with internal controlsSupport onboarding of new vendors and ensure tax documentation is complete (e.g., SST, WHT)Compliance & Internal ControlAdhere to internal approval workflows and payment policies.
Support month-end closing through accurate AP reconciliations and accruals.Assist in audits by providing payables-related reports and documentation.SOP Development & Process DocumentationDraft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payables workflows
Submit SOPs for review and approval by the Finance ManagerEnsure SOPs are updated and aligned with regulatory and operational requirementsCross-Functional CollaborationLiaise with onboard finance teams, HR, procurement, and IT to ensure data accuracy and process alignment
Provide financial data and insights to support operational decision-makingParticipate in finance system integration and testing (e.g., ERP, PMS interfaces)General Finance SupportPerform finance-related tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysisContribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance operationsQualifications
Education & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldMinimum 3–5 years of experience in payables, preferably in hospitality, maritime, or multinational environmentsFamiliarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, SunSystems, Odoo) and financial reporting toolsKnowledge of Malaysian and Southeast Asian statutory requirements (e.g., SST, WHT, audit standards)Experience with cruise operations is an advantageStrong attention to detail and analytical mindsetExcellent organizational and time management skillsEffective communication and stakeholder engagement abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting softwareAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environmentWork Conditions :
