Forvis Mazars Asia Pacific Services Sdn Bhd is seeking zealous and aspiring individuals to join our Audit team. The position is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Overview
We are hiring talents for audit, accounting & payroll. The successful candidate will work closely with team members and under guidance from superiors on audit engagements, including planning, performing, and concluding engagements, while managing client relationships and expectations to nurture ongoing business.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage statutory audit engagements for insurance clients (life, general, or reinsurance).
- Plan, execute, and review audit fieldwork in accordance with firm methodologies and international auditing standards (ISA).
- Assess the accuracy and completeness of financial statements, focusing on insurance-specific areas such as premiums, claims reserves, reinsurance, and policy liabilities.
- Evaluate clients’ internal control environments and identify potential areas of improvement.
Technical & Regulatory Compliance
Apply knowledge of insurance accounting frameworks (e.g., IFRS 17, IFRS 9, MFRS, and local regulatory guidelines).Stay up to date on developments in insurance regulation.Liaise with actuarial specialists to assess the reasonableness of technical provisions and assumptions.Client Relationship & Project Management
Serve as the key point of contact for client management teams throughout the audit process.Manage engagement timelines, budgets, and deliverables while ensuring quality and efficiency.Provide value-added insights and recommendations to improve clients’ financial reporting and control processes.Requirements
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, ICAEW, or equivalent is required.Experience
3–8 years of external audit experience, ideally within the insurance or financial services industry.Strong understanding of IFRS / MFRS standards and insurance regulatory frameworks.Exposure to IFRS 17 audits and actuarial collaboration is a strong advantage.Excellent technical knowledge of audit principles and financial reporting standards.Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills for client engagement.Ability to manage multiple assignments and work under tight deadlines.Proficiency in audit software (e.g., CaseWare, Aura, or similar tools) and data analytics is an advantage.Forvis Mazars Asia Pacific Services Sdn Bhd (formerly Mazars Asia Pacific Services Sdn Bhd) is a Malaysia-incorporated company and a member firm of Forvis Mazars.
