Job Summary
The Cardiac OT Nurse is a specialized registered nurse responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care during cardiac surgical procedures. This role involves close collaboration with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and other members of the surgical team to ensure patient safety, sterile environments, and optimal surgical outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain a sterile OT environment, handle instruments, and ensure equipment readiness.
Assist as scrub or circulating nurse, monitor patient vitals, and support the surgical / anesthesia teams.
Uphold infection control, patient safety, and accurately document intraoperative care.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and respond effectively to surgical emergencies.
Job Requirements
Registered Nurse with a valid practicing certificate under Nursing Board Malaysia.
Post Basic qualification or relevant experience in cardiac / OT nursing preferred.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an operating theatre, preferably with cardiac surgery exposure.
Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical instruments, and cardiac OT protocols.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
