Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Familiarity and / or certification in the Cambridge Curriculum, A-Level, or IBDP.
Experience with or training in Project-Based Learning, Social-Emotional Learning, Inquiry-Based Learning, Student-Centred Learning.
Strong collaboration, written, and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and networking abilities.
Visionary thinking, strong planning skills, and creative problem-solving.
A genuine passion for education and student development.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver academic content and facilitate coursework, discussions, and activities aligned with Soka Education pedagogy and the school’s humanistic principles.
Collaborate with academic teams to review and enhance curricula in line with SISM's core values and purpose.
Prepare internal examination papers and ensure timely submission for review and printing.
Assist Heads of Department with classroom materials and support student progress and wellbeing.
Foster student self-discipline and uphold a safe and supportive learning environment.
Effectively manage classroom emergencies and crises.
Prioritise student safety and wellbeing in all actions and decisions.
Collaborate with colleagues to address student-specific or classroom challenges.
Follow school policies designed to protect and support all stakeholders.
Maintain a positive and engaging classroom environment for both students and staff.
Build meaningful relationships with all students, providing emotional and academic support.
Uphold and model the school’s Founding Principles, Motto, Vision, and Mission.
Inspire students to embody the values and direction set forth by the school.
Communicate effectively within the teaching team to ensure consistency in instruction.
Ensure consistency and high standards in teaching methodology across all classes.
Take ownership of your responsibilities and encourage students to do the same.
Understand and communicate the rationale behind school policies, events, culture, and practices.
Seek regular feedback from Academic Heads, mentor teachers, and senior staff to maintain high standards.
Embrace and model continuous improvement by learning from school leaders and colleagues.
Lead or support school events such as Open Days, fairs, and celebrations.
Provide additional support to international and boarding students as needed.
Engage with all students as part of a shared educational community, regardless of teaching assignments.
