What role you will play in the team
As an experienced Machinery Engineer, you will provide strategic, cross‑functional and technical leadership in the areas of machinery engineering, surveillance, troubleshooting, maintenance optimisation and asset management through all stages of project development and asset operation. You will support technology development and implementation to enhance reliability and performance of major machines around the globe.
You will be an integral part of our dynamic and expanding Engineering team based in Kuala Lumpur, collaborating with our community of engineering discipline experts and senior technical professionals around the world to deliver engineering excellence. You will discover and implement cutting‑edge technologies for reliability improvement, uncovering opportunities to drive forward our strategic priorities with innovative solutions.
You will also develop the capabilities of less experienced machinery engineers within the technical discipline, fostering their growth and expertise.
What you will do
- Develop and update machinery engineering tools, guides, best practices and specifications to improve work efficiency and enhance work quality of the team.
- Lead machinery troubleshooting and engineering evaluation remotely to swiftly resolve critical machinery issues at site.
- Lead machinery site support activities including major machine overhauls, on‑site troubleshooting and RCFA to ensure quality and timely deliverables.
- Lead machinery inspection and testing activities at vendor shop and ExxonMobil sites (i.e., FAT and SAT) to ensure equipment are meeting project / process requirements.
- Provide expert machinery and strategic guidance in risk assessment, HAZOP and MOC engineering reviews.
- Drive the development and execution of cutting‑edge machinery equipment strategies and predictive maintenance programmes to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
- Provide expert machinery and strategic guidance in vendor / supplier evaluation and qualification.
- Lead project engineering reviews and provide engineering surveillance on EPC contractors to ensure quality and smooth delivery of projects.
- Drive the evaluation, qualification and deployment of new machinery technologies available in the markets.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers to develop next generation of Machinery technical leaders.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field from a recognised university.Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in refinery, petrochemical or upstream oil and gas facilities.Experience in various machinery classes including but not limited to centrifugal compressors, gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating compressors, pumps, expanders etc.Experience in machinery shutdown / turnaround planning and execution activities.Experience in maintenance and reliability concepts and applications.Experience in major machine monitoring using various monitoring software (e.g., OSI PI, SEEQ, System‑1, Prognost etc.).Experience in machinery selection, sizing, design, installation, preservation, commissioning, start‑up, operation, surveillance, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrading, and decommissioning.General knowledge of oil and gas production operation and facilities (e.g., oil treating, gas processing, compression, measurement, corrosion etc.).Strong English verbal and written communication skills.Willing and able to travel for extended periods (e.g., 1–2 months) if business need arises.Your Benefits
