Position Overview : As the Assistant Manager / Manager – Procurement, you will lead end‑to‑end procurement and supply chain activities, including vendor management, stock planning, compliance, and contract negotiations, ensuring operations run seamlessly and cost‑effectively while aligning procurement with Finance, Operations, R&I, Marketing, and Retail to support the company’s growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement & Sourcing
- Lead the end‑to‑end procurement cycle, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent quality and competitive pricing.
- Identify alternative suppliers to reduce single‑source risk.
- Ensure procurement processes follow company SOPs and governance policies.
2. Inventory & Stock Planning
Develop demand forecasts and manage stock planning to balance availability with cost efficiency.Optimize inventory levels to reduce stockouts, overstocking, and working capital pressure.3. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Ensure all procurement activities comply with NPRA, KKM, and relevant import / export regulations.Maintain proper documentation for customs clearance, audits, and inspections.Oversee supplier certifications (e.g., GMP, ISO) and ensure standards are up to date.4. Cost & Process Optimization
Continuously monitor market trends to negotiate better pricing and terms.Implement process automation / digital tools to improve efficiency.Identify opportunities for cost savings in logistics, packaging, and sourcing.Benchmark procurement practices against industry best practices.5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Finance on budgeting, cash flow planning, and cost control.Work closely with Operations, R&I and Retail to align procurement with business needs.Align with Marketing and Sales to anticipate stock demand for campaigns and promotions.Act as the main liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve supply issues.Supervise procurement staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.Build a high‑performing team with a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.Prepare procurement budgets, monthly reports, and management dashboards.Present procurement updates to senior management and, when required, to the board / investors.Requirements
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or related fields.Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role (preferably in FMCG, retail, or pharmaceutical industries).Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.Proficiency in procurement software (ERP & WMS) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).Knowledge of import / export regulations and compliance standards.Self‑driven with strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.Proactive and comfortable in a fast‑moving environment.Excellent leadership, coaching, and team management skills.Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.Ability to lead projects, work cross‑functionally, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.Able to work in the HQ office located at Section 15, Shah Alam.Seniority Level
