About The Role
This role reports into the Atome Financial Regional Legal Counsel and partners closely with the Product, Business, Compliance functions and other internal stakeholders in the SEA region. You will focus primarily on regulatory advisory work, commercial legal support and strategic initiatives to enable the expansion of our financial services-related businesses across the region.

Key Responsibilities
- Advising on regulatory matters across multiple products : BNPL, Cards, Digital Lending and Payments
- Analysing the practical impact of the impending Consumer Credit Act, financial regulations, payments laws and licensing requirements on our business models
- Reviewing and negotiating merchant / partnership contracts with our Atome merchants and strategic partners
- Reviewing and negotiating agreements with any payments-associated partners, outsourced vendors and service providers
- Working closely with the Compliance function on licensing and regulatory matters
- Drafting any iterative changes to our template contracts necessitated by regulatory developments or new commercial or product requirements
- Support Group Legal and Leadership on major strategic projects and legal initiatives
- Liaising with external legal counsels where specialised local advice is needed
- Stay ahead of regulatory changes and proactively drive action within the business
- Performing pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights
- Providing corporate secretarial support for strategic business activities
Key Requirements
Around 5-6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a reputable law firm or in-house legal departmentAdmitted to the Malaysian barExperience (or keen interest) in financial services, banking, payments, digital lending or fintechStrong contract drafting and negotiation skills across commercial agreementsFluent in Bahasa and English (spoken and written)What We Look For
