Senior Specialist, Tax (APAC)

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Tax Senior Specialist (APAC) to strengthen our global tax function. Based in Malaysia and reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, this role focuses on ensuring direct and indirect tax compliance while supporting tax planning and strategic initiatives across multiple business areas. You will work closely with international stakeholders and cross-functional teams, contributing to global tax strategies and providing technical insights for business operations. Responsibilities

Lead and review statutory tax filings for corporate income tax and indirect tax. Ensure accuracy in tax provisions, including reconciliation of tax expense and deferred tax accounts. Manage WHT compliance, documentation, and reporting. Support the preparation of transfer pricing documentation. Monitor regulatory developments and adapt compliance processes accordingly. Handle tax audits, coordinating with advisors and tax authorities across regions. Partner with finance, business, and external stakeholders to deliver tax strategy initiatives. Evaluate tax implications for projects, transactions, and system rollouts. Conduct tax research, draft technical papers, and provide clear updates to stakeholders. Contribute to embedding tax requirements into daily operations and system enhancements. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. Recognized professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, MIA, etc.); advanced tax certifications are advantageous. 4-6 years of solid experience in corporate and / or indirect tax, ideally with Big 4 or MNC exposure. Familiarity with international tax, transfer pricing, or cross-border transactions. Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
