Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer Job Description : Design Basis, Codes & Standards Apply knowledge of design codes (API, ISO, ASME, etc.) and industry practices to meet project requirements. Interpret standards to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Understand limitations of codes and apply with accuracy and efficiency. Review client specifications (PTS, DEP, etc.), identify gaps / ambiguities, and raise clarifications. Rotating Equipment Expertise Select appropriate rotating equipment for oil & gas, refinery, and industrial applications. Demonstrate strong technical competence in hydraulics, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, rotordynamics, and combustion. Evaluate vendor proposals, P&IDs, and technical bid tabulations (TBE / TBT). Witness FATs / shop tests, review reports, and resolve deficiencies or performance issues. Respond to site technical queries (STQ) on design, installation, and commissioning. Identify cost-saving and energy-efficient measures. Actively participate in HAZOP reviews and close-out actions. Review and mentor junior engineers’ work. Material Selection Apply knowledge of materials for various services (wet CO2, sour, low temperature, toxic, etc.). Review vendor proposals against corrosion studies and material selection reports, ensuring compliance. Prepare and check : Calculation spreadsheets, datasheets, and specifications. Material requisitions (MR / SR), technical clarifications, and TBE / TBTs. Equipment selection reports, compressor aero / thermodynamic studies, and driver selection. Inputs for layouts, utilities, foundation loads, and interface details. Conduct expert vendor data reviews for compliance with standards and project requirements. Interface effectively with piping, process, civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines. Lead VDR meetings to resolve issues and accelerate schedules. Fabrication Knowledge Understand fabrication processes and critical path elements affecting delivery. Proactively support vendors to improve equipment delivery schedules. Act as Lead Engineer when assigned, ensuring project execution within scope, schedule, and resources. Coordinate resources, monitor progress, and drive proactive solutions. Provide guidance and coaching to team members. Technical Audits & Quality Perform technical audits (for engineers with 10+ years’ experience). Investigate and resolve quality issues or client complaints. Ensure compliance with QA / HSE requirements. Exercise sound judgment, proactiveness, and problem-solving under complex project conditions. Deliver high-quality outputs that meet client and JV expectations. Supervise and mentor junior engineers.
