Physical Design Engineer – Penang, Malaysia
Job Overview
We’re searching for a seasoned Physical Design Engineer who will take ownership of custom IP and SoC physical implementation from RTL to GDS. The role involves end‑to‑end physical design flow, verification, signoff, and methodology improvement.
Responsibilities
- Implement physical design of custom IP and SoC from RTL to GDS to create manufacturing‑ready design database.
- Drive all aspects of physical design flow : synthesis, place & route, clock tree synthesis, floor planning, static timing analysis, power / clock distribution, reliability, power and noise analysis.
- Conduct verification and signoff : formal equivalence verification, static timing analysis, reliability verification, static and dynamic power integrity, layout verification, electrical rule checking, and structural design checks.
- Analyze results and recommend fixes for current and future product architecture.
- Apply expertise in structural and physical design : physical clock design, timing closure, coverage analysis, multiple power domain analysis, placement, routing, synthesis, and DFT using industry‑standard EDA tools.
- Optimize designs to improve product‑level parameters such as power, frequency, and area and participate in development of physical design methodologies and flow automation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related field.3+ years of relevant experience in deep sub‑micron process nodes with multiple tape‑out experience.In‑depth knowledge and hands‑on experience in physical design flow, signoff flow (STA, LEC, ERC, DRC) and EDA tools.Hands‑on scripting expertise : Perl, TCL, Python and knowledge of VHDL and Verilog.Experience mentoring junior team members.Strong initiative, analytical / problem‑solving skills, team working skills and ability to multitask.Preferred Requirements
Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related field.Experience with physical design involving multiple clock domains, power management, low‑power design, tools and methodologies, and UPF specifications.Job Details
