Job description

Financial Reporting and Month-End Closing

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements (profit & loss, balance sheet).
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations, journal entries necessary adjustments.
  • Coordinate and execute monthly and year end closing activities.
  • Analyze financial data and variances to support management decision-making.

Compliance Oversight

  • Monitor daily accounting operations to ensure alignment with internal control procedures and company policies.
  • Observe compliance in areas such as procurement documentation, payment processing and claims submission.
  • Handle and resolve vendor and customer issues related to billing, payment or documentation in a timely manner.
  • Report any non-compliance or irregularities to the Sr Finance Manager for further action.
  • Assist in maintaining proper supporting documents for audit readiness and regulatory compliance.

    • Audit and Tax Compliance

  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents and company secretary for annual audit and tax filing.
  • Prepare audit schedules and ensure timely submission of audit documents.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations (SST, CP204, Form E, etc) and statutory bodies (EPF, SOCSO, EIS, LHDN).

    • Cash Flow and Bank Reconciliation

  • Monitor daily cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Verify monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Verify petty cash records and ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping.

    • Team Supervision and Support

  • Guide and mentor junior finance staff in daily accounting tasks.
  • Review accounting entries and reconciliations prepared by team members for accuracy and compliance.

    • Budget and Forecasting Support

  • Assist in collecting and consolidating financial data for budgeting and forecasting exercises.
  • Coordinate with relevant department to gather input and ensure accuracy of submissions.
  • Support the Sr Finance Manager in analyzing trends and preparing budget-to-actual variance reports.

    • Ad Hoc Tasks

  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the Sr Finance Manager or management from time to time.
