Overview
A Quality Control (QC) Inspector in construction ensures that all work and materials meet the required standards, specifications, and safety regulations. This role is critical for maintaining quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Review Project Specifications
- Understand drawings, technical documents, and relevant codes (e.g., ISO, ASTM, CIDB standards).
- Inspection Planning
- Develop inspection and test plans (ITPs).
- Identify hold points and critical stages for quality checks.
- Material Verification
- Inspect incoming materials for compliance.
- Ensure proper storage and handling to prevent damage.
- Site Inspections
- Conduct inspections during various construction phases (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical).
- Verify work against approved drawings and procedures.
- Testing & Calibration
- Coordinate with labs for material and structural testing.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated and functioning.
- Non-Conformance Management
- Identify and report defects or deviations.
- Recommend and verify corrective actions.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and NCRs.
- Submit daily and final QA / QC reports.
- Compliance Monitoring
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and building codes.
- Stay updated on changes in standards.
- Communication
- Liaise with engineers, contractors, and project managers.
- Participate in quality meetings and briefings.
