Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Interior Designer located in Kuala Lumpur. The Senior Interior Designer will be responsible for planning, designing, and drafting construction documents. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing space planning, creating and reviewing architectural and interior design plans, selecting furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), and coordinating with clients and construction teams to ensure the successful completion of projects.

• Understand the preliminary client brief
• Create & prepare layout plans, sketches, 3D, 2D drawings, models and visuals
• Prepare the construction & technical details of design drawings
• Work with internal team and operations department to generate ideas for pitching and proposals
• Present and propose concepts to each client according to their desired needs
• Manage the design and creative elements of projects both independently and within project team
• Ensure that the design and creative deliverables are aligned to client expectations and executed within budget and timescales
• Propose suitable construction materials, color scheme, materials needed, carpet, and carpentry work
• Prepare and issue specification by coordinating with the costing department
• Schedule frequent site visits to ensure works are done according to plan, and control daily working site progress
• Make sure tasks implemented meet the design standard and maintain quality assurance
• Handle all documentation required on project requirements
• Work closely with team to create scope of work and define projects.
• Skillfully resolve detailing and technical issues in line with the project’s design agenda
• Where appropriate, manage project teams, deliverables, and finances to meet profit targets & deadlines
• Attend meetings and liaise with clients. Note down meeting minutes and understand their needs by translating them into workable concepts & designs
• Coordinate with the sub-contractors, suppliers and other key persons while monitoring the construction schedule
• Participate in supervisory visits at the site to ensure work is according to specifications
• Maintain timeliness of project delivery
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned
