Overview
Mechanical Design Engineer I at Honeywell, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. You will contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge mechanical solutions, ensuring high-quality, reliable products, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will report to the Program Manager and work from our Kuala Lumpur location on a Hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Technologies covered under this position profile are primarily Gas Processing and Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) systems, with the option to also cover other Honeywell UOP Process Technologies.
- Work as skid piping engineer for skid piping design and engineering.
- Participate in development and review of basic plant and equipment layout / general arrangement and modular 3-D models.
- Complete assigned project work per the agreed scope, schedule, and budget.
- Support technical sales support to produce optimized process solutions in both the budgetary and fixed proposal phases that can be smoothly handed off for project execution.
- Support Customer Specifications Review and contribute to development of Exceptions & Clarifications Communication when required on Fixed Price Proposals.
- Participate in new technology development / infrastructure teams when assigned.
- Keep up to date with customer needs and technologies within assigned area.
- Prepare engineering documentation which includes calculations, data sheet and specification.
- Supervision of skid module fabrication which includes working with contractor, monitoring fabrication progress and conducting the factory acceptance test. Ensuring engineering contractor engineering performance for the project.
- Ability to answer questions, with confidence, from other disciplines and workstreams as to the requirement / function of each item.
- Work with designers to develop 3D models, 2D drawings and MTO.
- Review and approval of vendor data and fabrication procedures. Ensuring consistency of vendor data with other design documents.
- Participation in preparation of project schedules.
Key Experience & Capabilities
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalentExperience or knowledge in piping engineering for Oil & Gas / Refining / Petrochemicals industry, relevant industrial Codes and Standards, engineering work processes and inter-discipline interactions.Experience or knowledge in structure material and engineering is an advantage.Strong oral and written communications skills.Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Ability to travel 20% both domestic and internationally including lengthy business trips to site during construction and commissioning.Ability to work independently.Willingness to learn new technologies.Desire to do the utmost with a positive and professional “never say die” attitude.Ability to work on multiple projects at a time, coordinate with vendors and manage project deliverables under tight deadlines.Skills to apply engineering design criteria, guidelines, and contract requirements to design work.Who We Are
