As a

Senior Data Tooling Service Engineering Manager

, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and securing bp’s enterprise data infrastructure. This leadership position calls for a deep understanding of platform engineering, cybersecurity, and operational excellence. You will lead large-scale transformation initiatives, focusing on automation, modernization, and the seamless integration of secure, resilient technologies across bp’s global operations.Working alongside engineers, architects, and business leaders, you’ll drive the design of scalable technology roadmaps, governance models, and platform security frameworks that support mission-critical enterprise applications and services.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of enterprise platform architecture, security frameworks, and core engineering services.

Manage the full security lifecycle of bp’s unified data platform, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Drive performance optimization, availability, and scalability across global data platforms.

Lead enterprise modernization efforts, ensuring smooth integration with existing IT infrastructure.

Establish governance frameworks, risk management strategies, and enforce security standards.

Develop and implement automated systems for security monitoring, vulnerability detection, and identity and access management (IAM).

Promote the adoption of CI / CD pipelines, DevOps culture, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., AWS CDK, Azure Bicep).

Enhance platform resilience with disaster recovery, high-availability, and business continuity strategies.

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align solutions with strategic business objectives.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship, fostering a high-performance, growth-oriented engineering culture.

Contribute to strategic decisions on platform investments, cybersecurity risk, and operational effectiveness.

Partner with senior engineers to build and execute long-term technology roadmaps that reduce complexity, enhance scalability, and improve sustainability.

Align cross-functional efforts to scale bp’s data services efficiently, securely, and globally.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications & Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Extensive experience in enterprise-scale technology, security, and operations within global organizations.

Demonstrated success with CI / CD practices, DevOps methodologies, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., AWS CDK, Azure Bicep).

Strong understanding of ITIL, Agile delivery, and enterprise IT governance models.

Proficiency in programming languages such as

C#,

Python

Java

, or

Scala

Experience with modern data frameworks and orchestration tools (e.g.,

Apache Airflow

Kafka

Spark

) and cloud platforms (

AWS

Azure

GCP

Solid expertise in

SQL / NoSQL databases

data lakes

, and data modeling practices.

Core Technical Competencies

Deep technical expertise across cloud platforms such as

Microsoft Azure

AWS

Databricks

Palantir

Strong knowledge of data pipeline design, governance, platform security, and data visualization tools.

Proven experience designing, deploying, and optimizing

multi-cloud data platforms

supporting cloud-native, large-scale workloads.

Hands-on skills in

distributed query optimization

data indexing

performance tuning

Experience with

real-time

and

batch data streaming

architectures.

Preferred Skills

Experience operating in highly regulated, global environments with a strong focus on compliance and enterprise risk management.

Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g.,

AI / ML-driven automation
